"Guitarist Andy Stein brings his original blend of melody and improvisation to the Bamboo Room on May 24. He'll record this performance of material from his new CD release, "Strings of Consciousness," and material for his next CD project, "Unclassifiable." The latter is an apt anti-label for Andy's approach: he's equally at home with melodic, lyrical songs and improvisational exploration. While Andy's technical virtuosity is guided by good taste and a deep familiarity with blues, jazz, folk and rock, he's always pushing toward the new and often conjuring it in his live performances. Among those who've paid him compliments are Bruce Springsteen, the late Tom Dowd and Dave Mason. But don't take their word for it, head down to the Bamboo Room and find out for yourself.
